HIMALAYAN SINGING BOWLS

Singing bowls are used by Buddhist Priests in begging rituals, going from town to town ringing the bowls, to bring good luck and bless the surroundings. They were used to collect money or rice, and served as a cookpot and dinnerbowl. The bowl is struck on the side as a gong, and rubbed around the lip with a wooden mallet. The rubbing causes the bowl to create a rhythmic vibration, where 2 and 3 seperate notes can be heard. The bowls of different sizes produce different notes and tones. The handmade bowls look simple and dented, but the refined craft that made these bowls for thousands of years still creates a sound superior to machine-made singing bowls. Generally the larger they are, the more expensive they are, with the oldest and largest bowls having the best, richest tones and very distinct pulses in their vibration. When two singing bowls are struck at the same time, they react to the vibration of the other bowl and produce unique subtle harmonics.

BIRDS

The birds of the world produce some of the best music known to all of nature. I have been recording wild bird sounds since my childhood. I find that playing back the sounds of birds in a house, office, restraunt or store, pool party or other indoor/outdoor gathering is a very positive experience for everyone.  I have combined bird sounds with other natural sound recordings, as well as left them "as is" in nature. The results are at once relaxing and exhilarating. From sweet little field birds to exotic regions, these recordings are sure-fire mood makers. These are also very popular with musicmakers and songwriters as a unique background to songs and compositions.

WATER

The sound of flowing water is universally cool, uplifting. From trickling brooks to rain and thunderstorms, the sounds of water release tension and promote calm.
